My stand at the Midlands Vintage Chic Wedding Fair!

Boy am I shattered after the weekends Vintage Chic Wedding Fair, but my oh my, did I enjoy it! It's lots of work planning my stand, working on new designs/pieces and packing, unpacking all the props and goodies etc, but so much fun metting and chatting to all the lovely brides to be and their family and friends. It was also great to see lots of my favourite exhibitors and catch up with them as well as meeting lots of lovely new ones. All very talented and showcasing some gorgeous products/services! These are such happy events, a little light relief from my day job, which can be quite emotionally challenging at times! Anyway I wanted to share some photos of my stand, I was pleased with how it turned out, you wouldn't believe that I got all of that into my little Fiat 500, but I did :) ha ha.

Showcasing some of my new product offerings of pin wheels, cupcake flags and hen party rosette badges. Also one or two new stationery designs, many more of these coming soon, working on complete stationery suites and will launch them on here and Facebook as they are ready!

I took some photos of some of the other lovely exhibitors stands too and will do a post sharing these soon. Thank you for stopping by, sorry I have been a bad blog visitor the last week or two, hoping to rectify that very soon, just been so so busy!

Time for Tea!

Hi there lovely blog visitors, I hope you are having a good week. I wanted to pop on to mention the charity tea party that myself and my friend Gemma (Avenue Crafts) are organising for The Eve Appeal and their Make Time for Tea Appeal. The Eve Appeal is a gynealogical cancer charity, as Gemma and myself have had family members affected by this disease and I have come across many patients who this has affected in my role as a specialist nurse, we thought this would be an amazing, worthwhile cause to support. The fact that the campaign is to hold a tea party was right up our street too. Therefore we set about planning an event. Our tea party will be held on Sunday 29th April 2012 12-3pm at Brinklow Community Hall, Warwickshire, CV23 0LN. Tickets are £5 and include a cup of tea or coffee in a charming vintage tea cup and saucer and a slice of cake/cupcake all in pretty tea party surroundings, think bunting, romantic tunes and pretty props.

We are very pleased to say that we also have the support of Cheryl at Vintage Glamour Days, Tracy at Cotton and Crumbs, the belgrade theatre, Coventry and cake that. Some fabulously talented ladies to help us put it together, we are in for a treat with Cheryl's darling china and Tracy's stunning cakes. We have a raffle which includes prizes such as theatre tickets to the Belgrade Theatre, a gorgeous Disaster Designs Songbird satchel bag, boxes of beautiful cupcakes, and some lovely decorative items. We will also have a Tombola and a handmade bring and buy sale. Where our lovely guests can bring their handmade items and we can sell them on our stall and all proceeds will go to the charity.

We are very grateful for the support we have already received, if anyone who is local would like to come along then please drop me a line at KatrinaF81@aol.com or you can pay on the door on the day. Also if anyone would like to donate a raffle prize or have a spare handmade item they don't need it would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks for stopping by!

Cotton and Crumbs Cupcake Class

I don't know where April is going, I knew it was going to be a crazy busy month for me but goodness! I have had a lovely week even though it's been really busy, hope you have too. On Wednesday my sister and I attended a cupcake class by the amazingly talented Tracy of Cotton and Crumbs. We decorated a box of cupcakes in a vintage style, we learnt how to ice them, make roses, rose buds and other pretty flowers, pearls and bows, also how stencil and paint on them. It was a lovely day and we really, really enjoyed it! We were so pleased with the results, I'm a complete novice at this so it was great learning something completely new. I found it quite therapeutic too, I feel a new hobby coming on, oh dear, not good for the bank balance ;)

Here are the cakes we made, these are mine.

My sister , Natalie's.

We also met the lovely Carly, another talented cake maker, from
Wish upon a Cupcake, here are her cakes.

I think it's great to see how everyone's turned out, a great selection of pretty colour palettes!

Here are Tracy's cakes, which I'm sure you will agree are absolutely stunning! Tracy was a fabulous teacher and we were treated to finger sandwiches, cream scones and sticky toffee cupcakes for lunch, a delightful afternoon tea! I would highly recommend her classes or cakes to anyone!

I was thrilled with the results and can't wait to have another go now! I have a charity tea party planned and I am hoping to make some for that! I will be posting about that on here over the next few days so watch this space. Tracy has also kindly offered to be involved with the tea party and is making some cakes for us to sell, sure to be a hit with all those who attend!

Anniversary Gift Set

It was my Sister in Law's wedding anniversary yesterday, so a very Happy First Wedding Anniversary to Sarah and Paul! I wanted to make something that incorporated paper for their first anniversary as tradition states that is the gift to give! Therefore I made a card, and decorated some blank MDF letters that I brought at the NEC craft show the other week, I used some mulberry paper flowers on those, thinking that counts as paper, right?! I used the colour scheme they had for their wedding last year too. I painted the letters with Annie Sloan chalk paint, then sanded the edges to give a distressed look. I then used some small background stamps and Tim Holtz distress ink to add some texture and depth to the background, not sure this shows up in the photos! I used another rosette on my card, told ya I was loving those at the moment ;) I love that sentiment on the card, one of my favourite quotes, I used this on our engagement announcements back in 2007, so I was happy to find a Papertry Ink stamp set with it included. The Out on a Limb set is my all time favourite quote set!

I really enjoyed making these and I'm so pleased I brought a K and A for us too, really looking forward to decorating them! I also brought a small blank tray, pen pot and a little house shaped shelf unit. Really love altering items and making home decoration projects. I have so many ideas for projects that I can display to add a personal creative touch to our home.

I really hope that you are having a lovely weekend. Happy Easter! Wishing you all many blessings. We are having a lovely weekend seeing our family.

Rosey Rosettes

Thank you to those of your who left lovely comments congratulating me on being published in the magazine, much appreciated and they made me smile!

It's been a busy week, I'm thankful for the long Easter weekend, so I can catch up with the to do list, see our family and hopefully find some time to kick back! Lots in the pipeline that I'm so excited about, can't wait to share it all with you on here, so watch this space. Exciting, but hard work too, although it's so worth it!

Anyway, here is a recent birthday card and note pad I made for an order, the brief was for it to be girly! I love being girly :) I am loving rosettes at the moment too, can't get enough of them! So expect to see more of these on projects ;)

I have recently sat and covered 12 notepads for my Etsy shop, just have to decorate them now and I can then start stocking the shelves on there. Something I've been wanting to do for a long time is to get my Etsy shop up and running. Need more hours in the day :)

I hope you are having a lovely weekend so far. I'll be back with another post or two over the next few days.
