Make Time for Tea

On Sunday  29th April we held our charity tea party in aid of The Eve Appeal, a gynaecological cancer charity, we were a little worried that we would have a poor turn out as the weather was awful, it was raining cats and dogs! However we were over the moon with how many people braved the bad weather to come and support us and help us to raise money for such a worthwhile cause! So far we have raised £580 for the appeal!!!!! This has surpassed all our expectations and we are so very pleased!

We were also so touched and  so so grateful for all the help we received on the day from our friends Cheryl from Vintage Glamour Days and Tracy from Cotton and Crumbs. We were also helped by our families too as we transformed the village hall into a lovely tea party setting. Cheryl brought along her beautiful china, cake stands, table coverings and bunting. She was wonderful at greeting our guests with a nice cup of tea served in a pretty china cup and saucer. Tracy baked her exquisite cakes for us too and we were treated to such pretty cupcakes and macaroons. Tracy brought her sister, Michelle along and they too were wonderful in serving cake and helping all afternoon!

We had so many yummy cakes donated too, so thank you to everyone who donated a home baked cake, they were delish! Cake That donated some fabulous teacup shaped cakes, as well as lovely cupcakes. I enjoyed a day baking with my sister, Natalie on the Saturday too and we baked some cupcakes and a Victoria sponge. Gemma baked some naughty but oh so nice brownies and lemon loaf cake. Everyone was spoilt for choice with the lovely cakes on offer!

We were very lucky to have the tea and coffee for the day donated by Ringtons. Their tea and coffee is so lovely and went down a treat. We also had lots of raffle prizes which had very kindly been donated. Huge thanks to The Belgrade Theatre Coventry for donating our first prize of theatre tickets, Tracy for donating a box of her beautiful cupcakes, Cake That for their lovely tea pot cake and Cheryl for donating a stunning vintage teacup and saucer.

We also had a wonderful CD from Simon Partridge, who had provided this for us to listen to on the day and raffle off, so we were delighted to be able to hear his elegant vocals throughtout the day. Karen of Darby and Joan also donated a pretty vintage teacup candle for the raffle.

The rest of the raffle prizes were donated by individuals and from the stock I am gathering for my website. These included a teacup and saucer (you can see the theme here!), an Everything stops for Tea print, a Union Jack apron, Disaster designs Songbird satchel and East of India padded heart. Everyone was delighted with their prizes!

We also had a Tombola ran by Gemma's aunt and uncle, they did a fab job and also generally helped out on the day which was a huge help! My mum, full of cold bless her was chief washer upper throughout the day! Although there was tons of it as the tea and cake was going down well, so think we had several people on this duty throughout the day.

Beautiful tea cups and saucers.

A special thanks to our family friend, Les who lost his lovely wife Jan to gynae cancer last October, who kindly paid for the room hire in her memory. We were very touched by this and were so pleased to honour her and our lost loved ones in this way.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped us on the day, donated raffle prizes, cakes and those who came along to support us and raise much needed funds for the charity. We can not thank you all enough! We know how valuable your time and money is and really do appreciate all of your support. We can not thank everyone enough!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and perfectly civilised day and dare I say it we can't wait to do it again!!! The ideas are already whirling around in my little brain! It feels great to do something worthwhile for charity, especially a cause so close to our hearts!

With lots of love and lashings of tea and cake

Midlands Vintage Chic Wedding Fair - Part 2

Phew what a hectic few weeks it's been!!! I'm just catching my breath and coming up for air, lol. I had the wedding fair, several customer orders and projects on the go and a charity tea party all to do in the last two weeks, so it's been a bit crazy!

Anyway, here is part two of the Midlands Vintage Chic Wedding Fair, I wanted to give a little shout out to some of the other lovely exhibitors and show off their beautiful stands to you!

Cathy and Susie, the event organisers work so hard at bringing this amazing fair to the industry and to lots of excited brides and grooms to be, such lovely ladies too, so thank you! This was their pretty space at the entrance.

Here is Karen from Darby and Joan's stand, which was next to mine, it was lovely to meet Karen and we enjoyed having a chat about all things vintage and wedding related! Her china is beautiful and she had put on a gorgeous display of pretty vintage props.

These beautiful cakes are more of Tracy of Cotton and Crumbs beautiful work! Too good to eat!! Those little bell jars are so adorable, I've got to get me some of those! Such a pretty stand and stunning cakes as always.

The stunningly beautiful flowers of Karen from Passion for Flowers, so so pretty and elegant! What a fabulous idea for a sign with those strikingly pretty letters, love it!

Gemma from The Wedding of My Dreams had a fab stand too, I just love that ladder shelf unit, it's fantastic! A great display as always.

It was wonderful to be treated to the delightful elegant vocals of Simon Partridge throughout the day. Simon has such a wonderful talent, I would highly recommend if you are planning a vintage themed wedding or event.

Then there was Emily from Fishee Designs photo booth, a fab vintage themed photo booth, great fun with all the props etc, wish I had known about this for our wedding! Check out her blog for some of the exhibitors including me having our mug shots taken (vintage props were of course compulsory!).

The lovely Emily's best, a travelling old fashioned sweet shop! Such a fantastic idea! They were very kindly giving away free sweets (nothing better than free sweets!), which kept us going throughout the day!

Anyway as you can see, it's such a fabulous and pretty event and a must if you are planning a vintage or shabby chic wedding or just after something unique! I love exhibiting there and meeting so many lovely brides and grooms to be as well as the exhibitors.
