Stressful week!

It's been a stressful week so far, my mum was taken into hospital, she had difficulty breathing and it was scary. She is home now and recovering, but it has been a worry. Those of you who know me know that my mum has had health problems over recent years, it's always worrying but she gets through it, just wish she didn't have too! At the same time my nan is in hospital, awaiting tests. Hope they are both better soon. I'm still not feeling great either, today is the first day I have even been up to sitting quietly and making a card. I also wanted to say Happy belated Birthday to my friend Debbie, it was Monday but due to mum being in hospital couldn't post. The challenge over at the Sugar bowl was to use only one piece of patterned paper. I started this card before all the drama and only just had chance to finish it, Debbie will recognise it!
I can never seem to capture the twinkle of the glitter etc, sorry for poor picture quality, my camera skills leave something to be desired - was a rush job!

Stamp - Leann Ellis for Sugar Nellie, coloured with distress inks, stickles, accented with glitter pens and SU white gel pen.
Cardstock - SU!
DP - Making memories
Other -Paper doily, Flower and hat pin are from the SU! pretties kit, crochet ribbon from stash and the angel charm I brought from Marlene.

Which leads me to say that Marlene has posted on her blog about her mum who has recently had to have surgery on her broken ankle, she loves receiving handmade cards and Marlene has asked that if anyone has any spare handmade cards if they would be willing to send her mum one to cheer her up while she is recovering. Visit her blog for more details, mine will be in the post soon, I wish her a speedy recovery. She also has some yummy blog candy up for grabs.

Last but not least I would like to say Congratulations to our friend Becky and Nick in Nottingham on the birth of their second child, Oliver Matthew on Monday. Ewan will be so pleased to have a little brother, wishing you all lots of joy and happiness. Hope to see you all soon.
Well I had some happy mail today anyway which cheered me up, my Gorjuss stamps arrived and some patterned paper I'd been after from Sassafras Lass. Can't wait to be able to use them!Hope things get back to normal soon, got lots to do and all this has put me way behind, sorry for the long post but not to sure when will be able to post next.

Poorly sick!

No I haven't abandoned ship, I've unwell these last few days (boo hoo), I've got a nasty kidney infection and an awful cold. Been feeling pretty rough, on antibiotics and dosing myself up with cold and flu remedies. I've drank enough fluids to sink a ship too! I will hopefully be able to muster up the motivation to make a card soon, or finish the one I started prior to feeling so run down! Until then if you haven't already check out Rach's generous blog candy, you have till 8pm tonight to enter.
Check back soon, I appreciate you stopping by and any comments that are left.

Love

An appropriate subject for today being Valentine's day and all! Thought i'd share a layout I did from our engagement in Rome in 2007 and the announcements I sent out as keepsakes to our nearest and dearest. I'm still yet to complete the album from the trip and our engagement (I know tut, tut!), I'm using a pebbles inc share and tell album, these are great for combining layouts and pages of photos, heard about these in Creating Keepsakes magazine.

I also wanted a shout out to my Prince charming, Adrian, he is the love of my life, my rock, my friend. I love the way he gets me and my funny little ways. We seem to share the same wacky sense of humour and have a great laugh. Thank you for all the fun times and all the times that were not so fun, but we got though them as they have defined us too. Thank you for being mine and for an amazing proposal in Rome. I can't wait to move into our home together - not long now! (but remember to pick up after yourself and that the washing up is yours!!!!) he, he! I am blessed for the love in my life and am truly grateful.

Well enough of the mushiness!

Thanks for stopping by. Wishing you love in your life today and always.

Sugar Bowl

The challenge over at the Sugar Bowl was to use the theme of love and romance. I had some lovely Leann Ellis stamps for Christmas from Adrian and they had not seen ink yet, so out they came. This one was perfect for the theme. I'm last minute with this challenge as a new one will be announced tomorrow. But such is life, thought I'd have a go anyways!

Stamp - Choose by Leann Ellis for Sugar Nellie, coloured with distress inks and SU! inks, highlighted with inkessential white gel pen and Sukura glitter pens, stickles.
Cardstock - Stampin' Up real red and black.
DP - Basic grey, sugared and ambrosia collections.
Other - Raffia lace, ribbon, dew drops (Robins nest), label maker, nestabilities, heart pin (bargain from ebay!)
Just a snippet of how the inside is decorated and I used another of my personalised stamps from ebay for the back. Really had fun with this one, can't wait to join in again.

As It's coming up to Valentine's thought this stamp would be fitting. Love the new magnolia stamps and this lush DP, they are available here.

I have also decorated the inside and the back of the card. I have used one of the personalised stamps I got from ebay on the back.

Invites

Well here are my first attempt at wedding invitations. My design brief was a Celtic design, simple and stylish, colour scheme was to be cream, gold, chocolate. So here is what I came up with. I used linen effect and matt metallic card, heat embossed the Celtic knot and wedding invitation wording in chocolate brown and added satin ribbon and dew drops. I'm pleased with how they turned out and enjoyed making them, although a little nervous as to whether the bride -to-be would like the sample at first, but she did liked them. I'm in the process of designing matching place cards, so watch this space, wouldn't be able to show you those until after the wedding in April though. I'll post them then, with a picture of the evening invites.
If you haven't checked out Stampin' Up's sale-a-bration, then have a look on their website (link in the side-bar). You get a free limited edition stamp set with every £45 you spend! (until 28th Feb).
