Cheers

Hope you all had a great weekend. We had a very productive one on the new home front, starting to make progress which is great! Also had a lovely time catching up with our friends Chris and Louise. This is the quick card I made for Mike (Adrian's dad's) birthday and just wanted to give a shout out to wish my future father-in-law many happy returns! A simple card, which was made in between waiting for deliveries of DIY materials at our new house, collecting wallpaper and paint samples etc, etc. Hopefully I will have more time for projects soon. I just received the January kit of the month from Unity Stamp Co. and it's absolutely gorgeous! Can't wait to use it and share the results.
Stamp - Happy hour by Judikins (got this from Stampeezee) coloured with distress inks, also used liquid applique for froth and glossy effects on the glasses.

Cardstock - Stampin' Up! Other - sizzix letters (used my beloved big shot), paper jelly tots (again, I know can't get enough of these!).

I will share with you the Wedding invitations that I made for a work colleague soon (when she has sent them all out, as some people from work visit my blog and don't want to spoil the surprise).

Take care

Game boys!

Just posting before we start decorating etc for weekend. I'm not too great at male birthday cards, sometimes struggle to find a theme. Adrian and his sisters partner Paul are mad about their playstations, xboxes etc. They love computer gaming. So when I found this stamp from Unity Stamp Co of a game pad, I knew it was perfect for them! It's Paul's birthday today, so Happy birthday Paul, hope you have a great day! Here is the card that I made with this stamp.
Stamps-game pad and checked background are from Unity, heat embossed with black embossing powder. The ticket stamp is from an autumn leaves set.
Cardstock-Stampin' Up.
Other-bling dots, jelly tots (paper brads).

Have a great weekend! Hopefully will post tomorrow.

Piece of cake

Just a quick post today, been making some birthday cards for upcoming family birthdays but just wanted to make a quick one to share. Trying to keep up with blogging as much as I can, even if the odd project is just quick and simple! Was actually nice to make a card for a change and keep it simple. Limited time meant not too many embellishments! One of the things I like about Stampin' Up is the simple yet eye catching style.
Stamps - Stampin' Up Crazy for Cupcakes set, coloured with distress inks and liquid pearls. Cardstock - Stampin' Up. Other - bling dots and the things that look like brads are called jelly tots from craftwork cards, these have no legs and are made of cardstock but give a similar effect. They were a snip at £1 a pack!
It's Adrian's mum's birthday today, so just want to say, Happy Birthday Sue! Hope you have a lovely day. I'm off to wish her a Happy Birthday in person now and have a piece of cake!
Hugs,

The Twilight Zone!!!

One of my New Years resolutions was to read and relax more. I love to read but as life has been so hectic I have not had much time to curl up with a good book! When I read I completely lose myself in the story, imagining every little detail as I go. Therefore I really switch off from what is going on and relax! For Christmas I asked for the Twilight saga books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn). I had read about these books on blogs that I visit and it came highly recommended. So at the start of January I made a start on the first novel. Well it is fantastic!!! I'm totally hooked and can't put them down! Seriously I have been reading into the wee hours on several occasions! They are beautifully written and you get totally involved with the chracters. The funny thing is that my friend Debbie (Stampeezee) also got these books for Christmas and can't put them down either! So we have been discussing the book when not reading it! We went to see the movie the other night and that too was great. We waited as we both wanted to read the book first, pleased we did that, the film is really good but you can't beat reading these books. If you haven't already run to your nearest book shop and grab yourself a copy, you won't regret it! I'm on the third book now. So this is one New Years resolution I am sticking to, have got to get around to the others still! I was thinking I could keep a scrap journal of books I've read and reviews. Hey that's combining two of my favourite things!

Well you are leaving the Twilight Zone!

It's been a long time coming!

Wow, I can not believe that it is 20th January already! My first post of 2009 has been a long time coming, apologises! Well I hope that 2009 has been good for you so far. It's been hectic and a bit stressful for me so far to be honest, but hopefully things are on the up! Adrian had a scare with all these job loses, luckily his job is safe for now. It was a big worry though, so my thoughts are with all those experiencing these tough times with the economy as well. We have been busy with our house, work is under way, still alot to do though, hopefully we will be moving in soon. Also work has been pretty tough too. I had an order for wedding invitations that I had to fulfill too. I have been meaning to post for ages, hopefully I will be able to craft and post more often from now on.

Card recipe

Stamp-Country Girl by Sarah Kay (these are available from Stampeezee), coloured with distress inks, highlighted with glitter pen. Sentiment is from Stampin' UP!

DP-Cosmo Cricket (from a kit I got last year from QVC)

Other-raffia lace (from stash), dew drops (Robin's nest), the photo corners and flowers were also from the kit.
