Happy Father's Day!

Not long got in from having Sunday lunch with my dad for Father's day, he liked his card and present. Adrian had been to see his dad too. They have done so much for us throughout our lives and have done wonders for us over the past 6 months with the renovating of our little cottage. They have turned an empty shell of a house into a cozy home! we thank them both from the bottom of our hearts as we could not have afforded to pay someone to come and do the work and although we helped out and got stuck in when we could, neither of us have a clue when it comes to most aspects of DIY, although we are having to learn rapidly!

Here is the card I created using the Claire Curd stamping for men set from Papermania which I got from Stampeezee. Great for male cards as I usually struggle! Coloured with distress and SU inks.

Also used SU card, basic Grey DP, cuttlebug embossing folders, dew drops, SU Alphabits stamp set and small square punch for lettering and distress tools.

I made a card with golfer stamp too from the set but having trouble uploading photo of that for some reason, I'll try to add it again soon.

Thanks for looking!

Papertake weekly

There is a great sketch over at Papertake weekly. Been meaning to ink up this forest friends set from the Greetings farm for a while, it is available from Stampeeze. Made this card after a 12 hour shift, so was a little rushed! Added the doodling around the edges, brave for me! Not too sure about it though!

Stamps - Forest Friends, The Greetings Farm, coloured with SU markers (first time I've used these)
Card and DP - Stampin' Up!
Ribbon and linen thread - Stampin' Up!
Buttons - Woodware
Flowers - Prima

Hopefully will be back over the weekend with some more cards. Thanks for stopping by and for any comments.

Just Magnolia

I've been meaning to join in with the just magnolia challenge for a while, this weeks challenge is a fabulous sketch from Rach, can see me using this sketch again and again. Thanks Rach! I'm trying to put together a card and scrapbook sketch book to refer to when my mojo fails me! So this is one to save.

Materials used
Stamps - Alva the elf, sentiment is Stampin' Up! Coloured with usual distress and SU inks.
Cardstock - Stampin' up! DP - Basic Grey, wisteria pad.
Ribbon - taffeta (Kraft) Stampin' up!
Other - flowers - hydreanga (Prima), dew drops, nesties, gems, slot punch, chalks.

Been to Peterborough today to sort my passport out, forgot it expired with moving house etc and we go to Greece soon for my dad's 50th birthday! So went there so that I know I'll have it in time! Couldn't risk not celebrating my dad's birthday with him and am in need of a hol after such a busy year with buying our first home. Didn't really go away last year because of saving. All I need to do now is start that holiday diet!!! (better put the Jaffa cakes away then!!) lol.

Blog Award!

The lovely Sarah has passed on this blog award to me, thanks hun, really sweet of you!

The conditions of the award are:

  • I must thank the person who gave me the award
  • List their blog and link to it.
  • I must list 10 honest things about myself.
  • I must put a copy of The Honest Scrap Logo on my blog.
  • I must select at least seven other worthy bloggers & list their links.
  • I must notify the bloggers of the award.
1o things you may not know about me:
* I'm a registered nurse and have been qualified for 5 years now. I work on a surgical ward at present.
* Although I love some aspects of my job, it is very stressful and would love one day to do something creative or have my own little business instead!
* I spend more time blog hopping, shopping for supplies etc than I actually do crafting!
* I always over estimate how much I can fit into a day and when I don't get all of my unrealistic expectations done I feel like a failure and really annoyed with myself! (stupid I know, I never learn).
* I absolutely love New York City and get such a buzz when I'm there.
* Having said that I also love the countryside and am enjoying living in Warwickshire.
* I have a tendency to over analyse things!
* I'm terrible with money,( what is a savings account?) Doesn't matter what it is, clothes, handbags, home decor, collectibles, I have to have it and well now I spend the majority of my spare cash on craft stash! (it's an addiction or an illness, I'm not sure yet, Have you read the shopaholic books, well that's me!).
* Adrian and I are in the process of saving for our wedding and have yet to set a date but I already have my gorgeous wedding dress!
* I love Disney and wish life was really like that (well in my little dream world it is, maybe I need help!!!).

I would like to pass this award to Gemma, Michelle, Linda, Ann, Marlene, Brittany, Jacilynn. Visit there great work on their blogs.

Hopefully see ya tomorrow with a card!

SFOS #54

Apologies for lack of blogging this week, I have felt rotten, went back to work Monday after annual leave and a few of the girls on the ward had been unwell, sore throats, flu like symptoms etc and I have gone and picked it up too! My glands feel the size of golf balls and it's as though I'm swallowing razor blades, my head is fuzzy and I'm achey. Yuck!! I've been running a bit of a temperature too. I've just about managed to make it through my shifts this week and haven't done much on my days off!

Finally finished this card that I started last weekend! Really enjoyed making this as love this stamp and I love sunflowers. In fact I do love the magnolia stamps full stop! So cute. I would like to enter this card for the challenge over on a spoonful of sugar, they have a fantastic sketch to follow this week.

Card recipe: Stamps - magnolia, coloured with distress and SU inks, accented with white gel pen.
Sentiment stamp, Cardstock, DP, buttons, linen thread all SU available through me (free p&p throughout June). Other - Crochet ribbon from stash, doily, nesties, distressing tools, sewing machine.

I've only got one of those mini hobby sewing machines and have been reluctant to use it as I'm a novice at it but love the stitching I see on other peoples projects so have given it a go for the first time! Not brilliant but I'm hoping that with practice I'll improve, then maybe I could get a proper machine!

Hope you have a great weekend.
