Whimsy Santa

Just a quick post today as I'm full of cold and have got a sore throat. Boo hoo. So feeling a bit sorry for myself! I've just about mustered up the motivation to make this card. He is one of my favourite Christmas stamps, absolutely adorable! He is by Whipper snapper - how did you guess! Like I said before I really love their stamps and have a few ;-) If you click on the pictures you can get a close up of the cards, I have also tried to show a close up of Santa to show the shimmer the glitter pens give and the dimension of the liquid applique etc.

Stamp - Magical santa - Whipper Snapper, round sentiment stamp from paper artsy, coloured with glitter pens, distress inks, used liquid applique on santa's fur and beard, embossed the sentiment stamp.

Papers - Die Cuts with a View 6X6 Christmas pad from last year

Other - Large circle, large scallop circle nestabilities, stamping up slot punch, ribbon from stash.

Be sure to check out Hip Hop Thursday at Unity stamp co, lots of special offers to be had and blog hopping! It's on every Thursday and you can get stamp sets for $1 when you spend $25, plus there is usually a discount anyway.

I'll hopefully be feeling a bit better tomorrow and will try to post again, I'm off to bed soon with my hot water bottle and box of tissues! (Dosed myself up with remedies too ).

Hope you have had a good Thursday.

Happy mail!

Finally posting again after my birthday celebrations and a busy but enjoyable weekend. We had a lovely meal with my family on Friday night for my birthday, had such a great time and the food was delicious. I even had a glass (or two!) of the bubbly stuff, that's enough for me anyway as I don't drink alot. Then I had a day shopping with my mum on Saturday, and then a day out to Broadway in the Cotswolds on Sunday with Adrian's parents and Henry, their dog. So I made the most of my time off from work and the sunshine we had.

Had some happy mail today, my first Kit of the Month from the Unity stamp co, it's absolutely adorable. If you haven't already then you really need to check out this company, their stamps are really fun, funky, inspirational and on trend. They do a KOTM each month and the stamps you can not get unless you are signed up. You do not have to have them every month either, you get to view them. I will be using their stamps alot over the coming months as I have brought quite a few! I used some of my birthday cash for them. You can get them direct from the company in the USA or from Stampeezee, who are the only UK stockists. So come back soon as I can't wait to have a play and show you what I come up with.

Here is another card I made using a Whipper Snapper stamp!

Stamp - Whipper Snapper - rocking horse
Buttons - Woodware
Ribbon - Spotted - American Crafts, satin ribbon from stash
Other - Cuttlebug embossing folder, white rub ons, chalks, tag die cut.

I'll post some pictures of my birthday meal and my new supplies soon!

Also wanted to say Happy 3rd Birthday to Ewan for tomorrow (my Friend Becky's little boy) and to thank him for his artwork he sent me for my birthday!

Take Care,

Birthday Girl!

Takes some puff, blowing out 27 candles!!! It's my birthday today, and what a glorious day it is too, the sun is shining, it's the nicest day we have had for a while! Well I have been spoilt yet again, I have had some lovely cards and presents and some money to treat myself with. Thank you to all my friends and family for their cards and gifts. Also to my sister who has baked me some delicious cup cakes! I made a wish when I blew the candles out too! Well I feel no older, just can't believe I'm 27 (I know, it's not old, I'm still a spring chicken!), it's just that it seems that only five minutes ago I was turning 21, I've blinked and now I'm 27! Goes to show I must be enjoying the journey if it's passing this quickly. Just having a quiet day at home with family relaxing, then we are off out for a meal later to celebrate (Thanks to my dad for arranging it). So I'm looking forward to that, nice to spend time with loved ones. It's days like today that I reflect on what is good in my life and I'm thankful as I truly am blessed.

Check back soon for more creative projects (hopefully tomorrow!) and I'll post some pictures from my birthday soon. Thanks again to everyone for making it a special day.

Love Katrina xx

Whiff of Joy Guest designer call!

It's been a few days since my last post, so me trying to post everyday this week went out the window! Where does the time go! However the creative juices have been flowing! I always have lots of ideas ( probably too many ideas!) and then it's just finding the time to put them together or do you ever find you have the time, sit down to craft and nothing happens, well I'm one or the other there seems to be no in between, but thankfully the last few days have been productive, probably because I'm on a weeks holiday from work, and how nice it is too! If you haven't already then you need to check out the new Whiff of Joy stamps, they are absolutely gorgeous. Katharina, the company owner wants a new guest designer to join her team for two months, the information is on her blog So here are two cards, the first is created with a sketch from Katharina's sketches to enter into the competition ( I thought my cards were not good enough and I'm new at this blogging thing but then you don't know if you don't try, so why not!) and another quick card I put together using a Whipper snapper stamp, I also adore these stamps and have quite a few!

This card has been created using sketch #26 from Katharina's sketches which can be found on a link on her blog.

Stamp - Charlie and snowman, Whiff of Joy, sentiment from an Anna Griffin stamp set, coloured with distress inks, touched up with mica shimmer paints and stickles
Papers - Carolee's collection - Adornit!
Other - snowflake brads - dovecraft, cuttlebug embossing folder (snowflakes), snowflake punch, gems from stash.

Stamp - Wishing well - Whipper snapper designs inc, coloured with distress inks, sentiment - unknown, shimmer ink used to ink edges and for sentiment
Flowers - Prima, spacer bead, gem brad - Making Memories
Ribbon - American crafts
Other - Fiskars threading water punch.

Thanks for looking, will be posting again very soon, have some more cards to show, I'm also in the process of finishing a scrapbook on our engagement and want to show one of the decorative tins I love to make.

Have a great day!

Let's get this blogging started!

Well I have finally gotten around to starting my own blog, I have read blogs and followed certain blogs for a while now and have thought often about starting my own as a creative outlet. So here it is! I am passionate about crafting, I love to scrapbook, enjoy stamping and making cards etc. I like all elements of paper crafting, including shopping for supplies!! I have been crafting for the last 4 years but have really gotten into it properly in the last 2 years. Although saying that I have always liked to be creative and have always loved making things. I like to put thought into gifts and cards for people that show how much I care and I think a handmade card always captures this. Scrapbooking lets me document about the people, places and things I love most and preserve cherished memories forever and to share these with people I love. I also enjoy photography and this is an area I would like to progress and improve in. As I am rather technically challenged I will be needing the help of Adrian (my fiance) as he has the IT know how to get started, so big hugs and thanks to him! I live at home at present with my mum, dad, younger sister Natalie and our dog scruffy. I'm a real home bod and like being surrounded by those I love. I'm a nurse by occupation, and as it's a stressful job crafting gives me an outlet to create and express myself, I find my hobby therapeutic. So here is my first post and a bit of an introduction for those who don't know me. Below is a card using the gorgeous Sarah Kay stamps, most of my craft supplies are from my local craft store, Stampeezee, be sure to check out the website or visit the shop, Debbie the owner is always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Thanks Debbie! Apologies that the photo is not perfect, you can't see the cream card stock around the edge, like I say photography and photo editing is an area needing improvement!

Stamp - Sarah Kay-precious moments, coloured with distress inks, sentiment stamp - my sentiments exactly!
Papers - K and Co
Flowers - Prima
Crochet trim, card stock and gems from stash

Thanks for stopping by! (Check back soon as this is a work in progress!)

With Whimsical wishes,

Katrina xx
