My Website!

Welcome to my gorgeous new look blog! Which also means that my brand spanking new and ever so gorgeous website has gone live too! A massive yay! I now have some very pretty branding, which I am over the moon with. It’s been a long time in the planning but all the hard work has finally paid off and I now have a wonderful new home on the world wide web! Our lovely customers can now order directly from the boutique on the website too. How amazing is that?! I feel like my little business has now come of age and it feels pretty amazing. Cue happy dance and celebrations! www.whimsicalwishes.co.uk

I’m filled with excitement for what the coming months will bring, I have lots of ideas to work on and things in the pipeline, including the launch of my new stationery collections, so watch this space!

I have to say a huge heartfelt thanks to the lovely Lucy Ledger for all her hard work and patience with me throughout the design process. I’m sure you will agree that she has done an amazing job! I can not recommend Lucy highly enough, she is such a talented graphic designer and a lovely person to boot! The whole process was so smooth and Lucy managed to interpret my ideas and style perfectly.

With the launch of my new website and branding, comes the relaunch of my beloved little old blog too. It's been neglected over the 18 months or so and I plan to revive it now it's had a lovely makeover. My blog is a place to share business news, new designs and products, as well as occasional daily musings, inspiration and general chit chat from my everyday life. A bit of this and a dash of that, a bit like my creations!

Thank you so much for stopping by and please feel free to let me know what you think!

Whimsically yours,

Where have I been?

It's been a while, I never intended not to post on here for so long but so much time has passed, I thought I better update at long last!

So much has happened since my post last August, unfortunately it has been a very worrying, stressful and difficult time. I'll get the sad part out of the way first, my wonderful father in law sadly passed away in January after battling cancer for over 9 long months, most of that time was spent in hospital. I can't begin to tell you the loss we feel, he was the loveliest man you could wish to meet and we were so blessed to have him in our lives, we all loved him so very much he will be missed everyday. We are trying to take comfort in all our happy memories and times we shared and know that he will always live on in our hearts. I could write forever about this wonderful man and how he enriched our lives but it is all still too painful at the moment, I hope to do a tribute post in the future. This last year we have had so much love and support from our family and close friends, for that we are forever grateful. At times like these you realise what's really important in life and who your true friends are!

On to happier things and times. Last year saw me designing and creating a range of hen party accessories for The Vintage Hen House, never in my dreams did I think that they would be so popular but they have proved to be a hit and all the orders have kept me very busy! I really enjoy working with Claire over at The Vintage Hen House, which is THE site to visit if you are planning a vintage hen party, out with the usual tack and in with the super stylish we say! Claire has lots of packages on offer and can even create a bespoke hen party experience just for you. I sell my handmade hen party accessories and decorations exclusively via the hen shop on the site. Claire has recently acquired a travelling vintage tea room too, Mrs Tea, a fabulous way to cater or style your event!

The last year has also seen me developing many new products for Whimsical Wishes and working on a website for my business that has been designed by the very talented Lucy Ledger. More on that in the next post, as I feel that needs a post all of it's own. I now have my very own little brand thanks to Lucy!

We also took a much needed break last September to New England, it had always been on my list of dream holiday destinations and it did not disappoint! We absolutely loved it! We have recently just came back from another amazing holiday too and I will be writing some posts over the next few weeks about the wonderful places we have visited. I have tons of photos to share and have found visiting these places very inspiring. I think these lovely holidays have kept us sane amongst all the stress and busy times!

I can't wait to get up to date and then keep on top of posting on my little blog, especially now it has a beautiful new look to match my branding and website, hope you like it! I also can't wait to visit and catch up on reading all my favourite blogs, something I haven't had chance to do in a very long time!!!

Whimsically yours,

Long time, no post!

Oh my goodness me the time has certainly flown this year, my poor neglected little blog! I thought I'd pop on and say hi and that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth!! I wish I could say that the time has flown because I was busy having fun but the truth is that this year has been a bit stressful to be honest!

It started with my Husbands lovely Nan passing away on boxing day and then her funeral early in the new year, she was an amazing lady and we all miss her dearly, my hubs then started his new job, my Mum who was waiting for surgery on her wrist slipped in the snow and broke her shoulder, she then had the surgery on her wrist so was laid up for some time, then my husbands Dad became ill in April and has been diagnosed with lymphoma for the third time. He has been in hospital since the 2nd May and it has been a very bumpy ride, under going surgery, many procedures etc and now having chemotherapy. It has been very stressful and upsetting to see him so poorly and going through the mill. We are just hoping and praying that the treatment works, he recovers and gets home soon. It's been a strain on the whole family to be honest, we miss him and it would be lovely to have him home where he belongs.

It's not all bad though, my hubby's sister gave birth to a beautiful baby boy which has brought a lot of joy to his side of the family at such a difficult time. We are smitten and spoilt him with lots of lovely presents, I had fun choosing and wrapping them! I also made a keepsake box and card with a lovely little verse on. I can't wait for more cuddles now.

We also managed a little weekend away to London to see Michael Buble at the O2, he was amazing and we had a lovely time together which had been much needed with everything that had been going on!

My little business has also had some great developments, I've been working with Claire over at The Vintage Hen House on some handmade hen party accessories and decorations and these have gone down a storm. I will do a separate post all about these soon! I'm also in the process of getting a website designed for me and I'm hoping to have this up and running late Autumn, the fabulous Lucy Ledger is designing it for me and I'm very excited to see what she comes up with. I've also had more orders and enquires than ever before and I'm overwhelmed with how popular some of my items/designs have been. I have never worked so hard (I have a full time job too), I'm not complaining, it's kept me occupied during worrying times and made me lots of pennies to enjoy spending on my holiday. I am excited for the future of my little venture. I post often on my Facebook page as it is quick, easy and a great business tool, so you can see my latest creations there if you are interested and don't already follow me on there.

Hubby and I are hoping to have a holiday soon, a much needed break away from it all. If all goes to plan it's somewhere I've always wanted to go and the things we have booked/planned look amazing. There will be a few posts about our travels I'm sure.

I'll be back soon with the post all about the hen party accessories etc!

Until then, thank you for stopping by, I'm hoping to get chance to visit some of my favourite blogs and catch up with you all soon.

Vintage Glamour Wreaths.

I thought I'd share these wreaths I made in the run up to Christmas. They were something I had wanted to have a go at for quite a while and as Christmas started to get nearer I found the time to put my little idea into practice. I LOVE wreaths, not just for Christmas but for all occasions and everyday home decor. I wanted to create something along the lines of my brooch bouquets and vintage tea cup arrangements but in wreath form. I then found the most gorgeous satin ribbons in such decadent colours and set about the task of creating a wreath.

Here are what I came up with! I was really pleased with them, I shared them on my Facebook page and the orders came flooding in! I also made them as extra little Christmas presents for family and friends and they loved them, in fact they insist on keeping them up even though they have a sparkly snowflake on!

Hence I have now made some everyday vintage glamour wreaths! I will also be experimenting with sizes, different colours etc, they would also make fabulous keepsakes to hand to a bride on her wedding day or something pretty for bridesmaids or flower girls to hold, I can even imagine them as venue/party decor, oh how pretty these would look as pew ends, if only I had thought of this before our wedding!!!

I have lots of ideas for different kinds of wreaths and can't wait to get chance to have a play. I'll hopefully share more wreath creations soon!

Thank you for stopping by,

Much love,

Cosy Whimsical Christmas

Happy New Year to my lovely blog followers and readers! I hope that 2013 holds lots of happiness and good times for you and yours. I hope you all had a magical Christmas too.

We had a lovely Christmas, the run up was hectic as usual and I had lots of orders to fulfil too, but I enjoy the hustle and bustle of the festive season and seeing lots of our family and friends. I absolutely love the build up to Christmas, from decorating our Christmas tree and little cottage, to Christmas shopping, wrapping and crafting, watching Christmas movies and those Christmas parties and gatherings! I really look forward to that time of year! We popped over to see my hubby's family once I had finished work on Christmas Eve and then we had my family over to ours and went to our local pub! Always good fun. Followed by a cosy Christmas Day in our little cottage just the two of us, a lovely dinner, few glasses of champagne, the tree lights twinkling and our log burner glowing ... perfect! Then we went to see Adrian's family on Boxing day.

I can't believe how spoilt we were with all our lovely gifts, I must have been a good girl again this year ;) My hubby managed to get me some tickets to see Michael Buble at the O2 arena in July, I'd been desperately trying to get them to no avail, and alas he managed to get some, bless him! I'm a huge fan of his music as I love the Rat Pack and everything from that Era, so it's great to have an artist like that today! I know they must have been hard to get and he won't tell me how much he had to pay, so I know it was probably well over the odds! Thanks hubs! I will look forward to a weekend away in London to see the show :) I had so many beautiful gifts, too many to list them all. I was even lucky enough to have a few handmade ones too :) See below for pics. Most importantly though I feel so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends and I love them all dearly, after all that is what Christmas is all about

 Me and my gorgeous hubby!

This is the beautiful Christmas decoration that my lovely and very talented Dad made me, completely handmade and hand painted. I will cherish this always, such a lovely, thoughtful gift, I love it and it will always hang on our Christmas tree year after year, along with the others he made me last year, thanks Dad! xxx

My Nan also made me a handmade gift, isn't this beautiful, it is made of sugar crafted roses, don't they look real? It must have taken hours, she is so patient and talented! It is lovely and again so thoughtful. I was really touched and will treasure this. Thanks Nan! xxx

Hubby and I on New Year's Eve!

The we celebrated the New Year with our friends, we had a lovely meal, followed by a few drinks and as always a few laughs, which were much needed, it had been a sad time unfortunately between Christmas and New Year as my Husband's lovely Nan took ill on Boxing night and sadly passed away on the Friday. I feel so blessed to have know her, she was such a wonderful lady and will always be missed. Hence not getting chance to pop on here until now to wish everyone a happy new year.

I WILL TRY to post more often this year! I do love my little space here on the www and miss posting when life gets so busy! I now have a backlog of posts to write, photos to share etc so I better get cracking!!!! Hopefully I'll be back soon (famous last words, ha, ha). Thank you so much for stopping by!

May 2013 be filled with all your dreams come true,

My Vintage Tea Cup Arrangements

I'm sorry for neglecting my blog from time to time, life gets so hectic sometimes, plus with more sites like Facebook and Twitter to update too, it can all be a bit time consuming and those sites usually win as they are quick to update/post on etc. However I vow to post on here more often as I've had my little blog for four years now and it's where it all started. I love posting on here and following others on their blogs too.I love the fact that I can go into more detail on here.

I wanted to share with you my latest creation, something that was a year in the making, it had been on my do do list for quite a while and I'd had to play around to get it just right. It was something that I thought of whilst we were on our honeymoon last year as I had lots of bits and pieces that I had collected for my brooch bouquet that were left over, plus lots of pretty vintage china from our wedding, I wanted to create something to use the pretty pieces up and for it to be something to keep. So I came up with using them to make an arrangement in a tea cup, that could be displayed on my dresser or in a china cabinet. I also thought that this would be a nice idea to make something for our Mum's to keep to remember our special day by and for it to tie in with my bouquet.

Here is the first one I created, in a tea cup that was used on our wedding day and complete with the sentiment from our wedding invitations. I was really pleased with how it turned out. I even managed to use some of the surplus material that we had brought to make the bridesmaid accessories with, that was the same as their dresses. I made some fabric rosette style flowers to put in there.

I then could not wait to make another, so decided on a different colour scheme for this one. I used lots of vintage findings in this from a recent trip to Greenwich Market. It is made almost entirely of authentic vintage pieces. I love some of the buttons in this piece!

I have since decided to make these to sell and have had quite a few ordered as Christmas gifts, so I will have lots more of these to share over coming weeks. I am enjoying collecting pretty china and vintage pieces to use in my arrangements and have so many more ideas for variations, I can't get my fingers working fast enough!!

However on a more sober note, I have had some issues over the last 6 months with my designs being copied by someone who was a customer, who brought a bouquet from me to then see how it was made and start her own business copying them. It lead to me seeking legal advice as when I politely pointed out an infringement on my copyright the person got quite nasty. I then decided to let it lie, if we went in our separate directions. However it appears that this has not happened! I first posted my tea cup arrangement on my Facebook page to then days later the same appear on hers. I would not have minded but this person had not crafted before this, so it is quite obvious she has no design ideas of her own prior to this otherwise she would have made her own bouquet in the first place. I have mentioned this on my Facebook page so I don't want to dwell on it any longer but it just leads me on to say that I am over the moon if I inspire others, however I do not permit direct copying of my designs without prior permission and never for business or commercial use. I know I am not the only person creating this type of thing but I strive to and pride myself in coming up with my own designs and ideas. I was not aware of any other tea cup arrangements out there. I've been overwhelmed with the support shown to me and the lovely comments about my work etc, which has really cheered me up after such a horrible situation.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, your visits and comments always brighten my day! Famous last words I know but I'll be back soon!
